Transportation of every type cargo is featured with a lot of nuances. When it comes to oversized cargo transportation, there are even more of them. For example, we have to ensure proportional distribution of weight on the trawl or special shelter to protect cargo from environmental impact. From the one hand it’s good when the cargo corresponds to standard dimensions and could be placed in a tent semi-trailer. However, when the cargo has oversized dimensions, it became rather difficult.
TRASKO together with its partner GISTI TRANS delivered a modular horizontal screen with dimensions of 7,000 x 3,400 x 2,150 mm and a total weight of 17,000 kg from Izmir (Turkey) to Rostov-on-Don (Russia). We have already talked about the transportation of such equipment, which is used in the mining industry. Screening is the operation of dividing ore into different classes depending on the size of the elements. This process is carried out by sifting the material through special technological openings of the horizontal screen. Before the delivery we agreed upon the specifics of transportation and obtained all necessary permits.
Let’s talk a bit about the nuances. The base of the cargo was not solid. The special pads were made along the trawl in order to correctly place the cargo on the platform. Such a solution allowed to significantly optimize the customer’s expenses. We could use an expandable trawl as an alternative, but its cost is significantly more. The loading of the cargo was carried out with a help of a mobile crane.
Delivery by ferry from Karasu (Turkey) to Tuapse (Russia) became of the stages of the transportation. Since the cargo was in transit, it was taken from the transit warehouse: the necessary requirements were agreed and transit documents were issued. The preparatory stage took five days, and the transportation itself took 7 days more. As a result, the cargo covered a distance of about 2,500 km and was successfully delivered to the customer.
